National Institute of Technology (NIT), Meghalaya

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya is one among the thirty one NITs in India established under the NIT Act 2007 (Amended 2012) of the Parliament of India. NIT Meghalaya was established in 2010 and started functioning from its temporary campus in Shillong in 2012. Its permanent campus with its state of the art infrastructure is currently under development at Cherapunjee.

Admission Process

Admission to the B. Tech program in the Institute are based on the JEE (Main) Examination and through the counseling conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) for B. Tech Admission.

MTech Full Time

MTech programme is offered by the following departments

Electrical Engineering (Power and Energy Systems)
Mechanical Engineering (Fluids & Thermal Engineering)

Admissions to the M. Tech Programme in the Institute are based on the GATE examination and through the counseling conducted by the Centralized Counseling for M. Tech. / M. Arch. / M. Plan (CCMT).

MTech Part Time

Admission to M.Tech (Part-time) Programme are offered in:

Ph.D Programme

Eligibility Criteria for Admission into Ph.D Programme:

Master’s degree in appropriate branch of Engineering/ Science/ Technology/ Management Sciences/Arts or Master’s degree in the allied subjects with consistently good academic record and a minimum of 60% marks) or an equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree. (Candidates with B.E./ B. Tech. with an aggregate of 75% marks or equivalent GPA with valid GATE score will also be eligible). For those applying for Ph. D in Humanities and Social Sciences, min 55% marks should have been obtained in the Master’s degree.

NIT Meghalaya Placement

The NIT Meghalaya helps students in connecting with Industry Employers through its dedicated placement cell. The placement cell functions throughout the years and provide students training to face recruiters interview programmes so they can win Internship opportunities and job offers. The industries from divergent work areas are invited by NIT Meghalaya to conduct campus recruitment drive. According to the official website in the Placement Year 2022-23 No. of Offers made was 199.
