North East Adventist University (NEAU)

The North East Adventist University (NEAU) was founded in 1941 by American missionary Pr. O.W. Lange. At that time, it was known as the Assam Training School. Assam Governor Sir Robert Reid officially opened it in 1942. Adventist Training School (ATS) was the new name when Meghalaya became a state in 1972. For many years, it functioned as a secondary school for the inhabitants of Northeastern and East Indian communities, before its 1997 upgrading and recognition as a Higher Secondary School by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE).

This institution, which started as a tiny school but had big dreams, fulfilled those dreams in 1999 when it joined forces with North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU). At that point, Northeast Adventist College became the name of the college. The Meghalaya Act No.4, No.LL(B).23/2015/280, approved the University's operation in 2019.
