Doctorate degree can be pursued by students from any stream. It is the highest level of an academic degree one can pursue in India and most other nations. However, it is not by any means an easy task to earn a PhD degree as it requires a lot of hard work and many years to finally get the degree. A student who has a good academic record can opt for doctoral program. Generally, allowed duration to complete a Ph.D is 3 to 5 years from the date of registration.
Candidates interested in academics and higher level research apply for Ph.D programmes. A post graduate qualification or equivalent is considered to be eligible. Final selection is made on the basis of entrance examination, past academic records and personal interview etc.
To be awarded a PhD degree, candidates are required to conduct their research in a particular field and defend their thesis or dissertation. A candidate with a Ph.D qualification (i.e. Dr. prefixed before his/her name) is on demand across all industries in government and private organizations.
